Vuse Go Reload 1000 in detail
This is the device Vuse built to catch everyone left behind by the June 2025 disposables ban, and it shows in the design. Nothing about it is clever. That is the point.
You draw on it and it fires – no button to hold, no settings to learn. The pod clicks in, lasts up to 1,000 puffs, and clicks out again. The 530 mAh battery in the box version sees most people through a day, and an LED tells you roughly where the charge is: solid white above 85%, pulsing white between 50 and 80%, pulsing red below 50%.
The one feature worth knowing about is VapourBoost. Hold the button for about a second and a half and it switches between Base mode and a warmer, slightly more intense draw. The LED goes blue in Boost mode. Most people find one and stay there.

Vuse Pro in detail
The Pro is the direct descendant of the ePod 2, and it is the quiet workhorse of the range. It has no screen, no app and no modes. What it has instead is the widest pod compatibility and by far the widest choice of nicotine strengths.
That last point is the reason to buy it. The Pro takes the 1.9 ml ePod/Pro pods, which come in 0, 3, 6, 10, 12 and 18 mg, and it also takes the 2 ml Extra Intense pods at 10 and 20 mg. No other current Vuse device gives you that range. If you intend to reduce your nicotine intake over months rather than stay put, the Pro is the only one of the three that can follow you all the way down to zero without changing device.
Charging is via a magnetic connector rather than plugging a cable into the device, which some people prefer and others find is one more thing to lose. It is quick: roughly half a charge in twenty minutes.

Vuse Ultra in detail
The Ultra is the only one of the three that feels like a modern gadget. It has a colour AMOLED screen showing actual liquid and battery levels rather than a colour-coded LED, a removable 530 mAh battery, USB-C and wireless charging, and power that varies between 2.5 and 6.5 W.
Its pods carry a chip. The device reads it and sets the power for that specific flavour automatically – Vuse calls this FlavourIQ. Pair it with the MyVuse app and you get twenty intensity levels, usage tracking, liquid and battery reminders, and a Find My Vape function.
The catch is that the chip is also a lock. Ultra Smart Pods work in the Ultra and nothing else, and no other Vuse pod is designed to work in the Ultra. You are committing to one pod range, at 20 mg only, at the highest price per pod in the line-up.

Running costs compared
The kit price is the smallest part of what you will spend. Pods are the real cost, and over a year the gap between these three is larger than the price difference between the devices suggests.
Worked example: one year at 2 ml a day
Two millilitres a day is roughly one 2 ml pod a day, or about 1.05 of the smaller 1.9 ml pods.
Go Reload 1000: £4.99 kit + 365 Extra Intense pods at about £3.25 each = around £1,191.
Vuse Pro on 2 ml pods: £6.99 kit + the same pod cost = around £1,193. Essentially identical.
Vuse Ultra: £20 kit + 365 Ultra pods at roughly £3.75 each = around £1,389.
The gap: about £200 a year more for the Ultra. That is the price of the screen and the app, paid in instalments through the pods.

This trips up more people than any other aspect of buying a Vuse device, because the pods look broadly similar on the shelf.

What none of them do well
It would be a poor comparison that only listed strengths. There are things this whole range does not do, and if any of them matter to you, a different brand will serve you better.
- None of them refill. Every one uses sealed prefilled pods. If you want to buy 10 ml bottles and fill your own – which is considerably cheaper – you need an open pod system from another brand.
- None of them produce much vapour. All three are tight mouth-to-lung devices aimed at ex-smokers. If you want big clouds, this is the wrong category entirely.
- Flavour choice is narrower than the wider market. A closed system means you are limited to what Vuse makes. Open systems have thousands of e-liquids.
- Cost per millilitre is high. Prefilled pods are convenient and you pay for that. Refillable kits run at a fraction of the cost per ml.
- Only the Ultra has a replaceable battery. On the other two, a worn battery means a new device.
The trade-off you are making with Vuse is cost and choice in exchange for simplicity and consistency. For a lot of people leaving cigarettes behind, that is exactly the right trade. For others it is not, and it is worth knowing which you are before you spend anything.

Is the Vuse Ultra worth the extra money?
Only if you will use what it adds. The screen, removable battery and app tracking are real advantages, but they cost around £200 a year more once you account for the pricier pods. If you just want nicotine without fuss, the Go Reload 1000 delivers the same 2 ml of 20 mg liquid for less.
Can I use one set of pods across two devices?
Between the Pro and the Go Reload 1000, generally yes – both take Extra Intense 2 ml pods. The Ultra is the exception: its chipped pods are not designed to work in anything else. If you want to own two devices and share pods, pick the Pro and the Reload.
Which has the best battery life?
The Ultra and the Go Reload 1000 box both carry 530 mAh, so on paper they tie – but the Ultra takes a replaceable battery, so in practice it wins because you can carry a spare. The Pro has the smallest battery, offset by the fastest charging.
Which is closest to smoking a cigarette?

Can I still buy a Vuse ePod 2?
It has been superseded by the Pro, though stock still turns up at some retailers and its pods are widely available. There is no strong reason to seek one out – the Pro takes the same pods and charges faster.
Do any of them work with other brands’ pods?
No. All three are closed systems using Vuse’s own pod formats. Third-party pods marketed as Vuse-compatible are not made or endorsed by Vuse and have not been through the same MHRA notification, so we would not recommend them.
Which is best if I am buying my first ever vape?
The Go Reload 1000, in a tobacco or mint flavour at 20 mg. It is the cheapest to be wrong about, the simplest to use, and the closest to what you are replacing. You can always move up later – moving up is easy, and wasting £20 on the wrong first device is discouraging.
Will the October 2026 vape tax change which one is best value?
No. Vaping Products Duty is charged per 10 ml of liquid, not as a percentage of price, so it adds roughly the same amount to every 2 ml pod. The ranking between these three stays exactly where it is – everything simply costs about £16 a month more at one pod a day.
